Mount Cammerer

Restored to better than original condition, the Mount Cammerer fire-tower is the most unique fire-tower in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. A quarter mile off of the Appalachian Trail in the northern end of the park the tower is a must see. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's, the tower is made of stone and wood. It more closely resembles a fire-tower that is found in the western states, all of the remaining towers in the park are made of steel.

The hike to the tower is steep, regardless of which direction that you may approach. The incredible views from the top make the hike worth the effort! More Mt.Cammerer information>>
